The Zohran Mamdani-led socialist takeover of New York City is not sitting well with a lot of Democrats. 
New York Attorney General Letitia James on Wednesday expressed disappointment with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani for blowing up the Democratic party by endorsing democratic socialist candidates against long-time incumbents.
“Some of the candidates that he has supported are individuals who do not understand the politics of New York City, the cultural differences from district to district, who have not been part of the history and the struggle of some of these districts, and are relatively new to the body politic,” James <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2026/06/24/politics/zohran-mamdani-democrat-anger-primaries">told CNN</a>. 
The Democrat, whose high-profile legal investigations against the Trump family made her a national figure, said some of the Mamdani-backed candidates don’t really understand the Big Apple. 
“All of us are a little frustrated with the Democratic Party. But you don’t blow it up. That’s what MAGA has done,” James added. 
It’s a notable shift in tone for the attorney general, who passionately backed and campaigned for Mamdani against Andrew Cuomo in the contentious Nov. 2025 election.
“He is a leader fighting for a better future for this city, and he, like me, knows what it’s like to be attacked, to be called names, to be threatened, to be harassed,&#8221; James said a month before the election, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/letitia-james-campaigns-zohran-mamdani-public-appearance-indictment-rcna237458">according</a> to NBC. 
&#8220;I see the courage that is embodied in Zohran, and that&#8217;s why I am supporting him,&#8221; she said. 
On Tuesday, all three socialist candidates backed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani won their Democratic primaries for U.S. House in New York on Tuesday night, including two far-Left candidates who knocked out incumbent Democrats, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mamdanis-socialists-upset-incumbent-dems-in-house-primary-sweep?author=Brecca+Stoll&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=5&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Mamdani%E2%80%99s+Socialists+Upset+Incumbent+Dems+In+House+Primary+Sweep">The Daily Wire</a> previously reported. 
In New York’s 10th congressional district, former New York City comptroller Brad Lander cruised to victory over incumbent Rep. Dan Goldman, who faced intense and increasing scrutiny for his pro-Israel views. In New York’s 7th district, New York State Assemblymember Claire Valdez won her race with about <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2026-primary-elections/new-york-us-house-district-7-results">56%</a> of the vote, and in the 13th district, leftist community organizer Darializa Avila Chevalier <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2026-primary-elections/new-york-us-house-district-13-results">defeated</a> incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillat, chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, by less than four percentage points. 
The results highlight the growing tide against capitalism in New York and progressive precincts nationwide. 
“When Zohran won, it was a sign of what could happen and what was possible,” the Sunrise Movement, a left-wing activist group, said in response to Tuesday night’s results. “Young people have taken over New York City and we are going to Congress. Young people, who are unapologetically Democratic-Socialist. Tonight marks the end of the bought out, boomer establishment Democrats.”
In a social media post, the group added, “WATCH OUT CHUCK SCHUMER!! YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE TAKEN OVER THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY!!!” 
Schumer, the highest-ranking Democrat in America, has shrugged his shoulders over the political earthquake, insisting his rapidly evolving party is a big tent that welcomes moderates, progressives, and even socialists.
In the Oval Office, President Trump piled on, calling the Senate Majority Leader, who is Jewish, “100% Palestinian.” 
&#8220;In fact, I&#8217;ve asked for a beautiful, silk outfit to be sent in the Palestinian tradition. I&#8217;m going to send it to him as a birthday present,&#8221; Trump said. “It’s the greatest transformation of a political ideology I’ve ever seen.”

“3,900 children were separated from their families,” DeLauro said. 
“450,000 kids were lost during the Biden administration, and you didn’t say a word about it,” Mullin fired back. 
DeLauro, who represents New Haven, Connecticut, erupted and started wagging her finger at the Homeland Security chief. 
“Mr. Secretary! Do not interrupt,” DeLauro said, raising her voice in front of the cameras.
“Don’t you point your finger at me,” Mullin replied. “Don’t be a hypocrite.” 
“I will point my finger at you,” DeLauro interjected, before asking the chairman to put Mullin “in his place.” 
“You should be as upset about the 450,000 kids that were lost. You didn’t say a word about it. For four years, you never said a word,” Mullin exclaimed. 
“You should be put in your place,” he added. 
The heated confrontation follows a renewed spotlight on President Trump’s immigration and deportation agenda.

Alligator Alcatraz, the detention facility in Florida’s remote Everglades that became a centerpiece of President Trump’s deportation campaign, is shutting down.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the facility&#8217;s closure in a Thursday press conference with White House Border Czar Tom Homan, insisting the detention space is no longer necessary. 
“I said from the beginning that this was an emergency solution that would be temporary, that once DHS had the wherewithal to be able to handle these illegal aliens, particularly the criminal illegal aliens, that they would be able to do so, and we would still help,” DeSantis said. “In terms of us managing this facility, the minute that&#8217;s no longer needed, then we obviously would break down the facility.” 
The detention center, built by Gov. DeSantis’ administration in a matter of days, opened in July 2025. Located in a remote stretch of the Everglades surrounded by alligator-filled wetlands and other wildlife, the facility became a key component of President Trump’s effort to deport what he called the “worst of the worst.”
“There is no question this mission has made the state of Florida safer,” said DeSantis, noting that nearly 21,000 people were deported through the facility. 
Since its opening, the detention center has become a flashpoint for leftist activists, who claimed migrants were being held in inhumane conditions. Those activists initially secured a court order to shut down the facility, but an appeals court later reversed the ruling.
According to the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-dhs-reveals-the-worst-of-the-worst-illegals-in-alligator-alcatraz">Department of Homeland Security</a>, some of the detainees at Alligator Alcatraz included the following:

<li style="font-weight: 400">Eraldo Ariel Perez Perez, an illegal from Guatemala, was convicted of sexual battery of a victim (12 years or older), physically helpless to resist.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Efrain Mez-Choc, another illegal from Guatemala, was convicted of engaging in sex with a child and two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child 12-16 years old. </li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Gersain Lerma Lasprilla, an illegal from Colombia, was convicted in his home country for the manufacture and trafficking of firearms and ammunition.  </li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Thallys Roberto Cassimiro DeSouza, an illegal from Brazil, convicted of robbery. </li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Simeon De La Cruz Paredes, an illegal from the Dominican Republic, was convicted of smuggling aliens.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Diego Puentes, an illegal from Guatemala, convicted of second-degree murder. </li>
</ul>
“It has helped remove many, many dangerous people from the street and get them out of not only the state of Florida, but the United States of America,” DeSantis said. “We stood this up, we surged critical resources, we built critical infrastructure, we were able to manage very complex operations, and we were able to efficiently execute the mission when called upon.”
Detainees who remained when the facility closed were transferred to other federal detention centers.
Thursday’s announcement came hours after the Supreme Court’s conservative majority handed the Trump administration two major immigration victories, siding with the administration in a pair of closely watched cases involving asylum policy and deportation protections.
In a <a href="https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25pdf/25-5_86qd.pdf">6-3 ruling</a>, the court held that the Trump administration can move forward with ending Temporary Protected Status for roughly 350,000 Haitian immigrants and 6,000 Syrians currently living in the United States. 
The president’s signature ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ turbocharged funding for border security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Last month, the Republican-led Congress funded ICE through the end of Trump’s second term over Democratic objections. 
“The most secure border in the history of this nation was achieved under President Trump. Record numbers of arrests and deportations,” Homan said during a press conference. “Over 1 million departures since he&#8217;d been in the Oval Office. No president’s done that.”

Writing for the majority, Justice Samuel Alito said that federal courts exceeded their authority by second-guessing the administration’s immigration determinations.
“This will be a very controversial ruling. This is a further indication that the Supreme Court is intent on consolidating power in the hands of the president, part of this larger unitary executive theory that this White House has pushed,” Vance said on the leftist outlet. 
“It&#8217;s an appalling decision,” she continued. “You know, some decisions do not stand the test of time. This one, I suspect, will not stand the test of time.”
Other left-wing commentators argued the high court should’ve ruled against the administration over the president&#8217;s past comments. 
“The court is ignoring the history of this administration&#8217;s remarks about Haitian people, in particular. I don&#8217;t think there is a single American who can say they actually forget what we heard from the President, what we heard from Vice President Vance about Haitian people, just some of the most disgusting and racist remarks you can imagine,” MS NOW anchor Antonia Hylton <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igsIGl7jZUE">said</a>. 
The conservative majority ruled that respondents were unlikely to prove that race was a motivating factor in the decision to terminate Haiti’s TPS designation.
“None of the cited statements by either the President or the Secretary was overtly racial, and in substance all expressed policy views that could rest on race-neutral justifications,” Justice Alito wrote.
In another <a href="https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25pdf/25-5_86qd.pdf">6-3 ruling</a>, the court upheld the federal government’s authority to turn away asylum seekers at ports of entry through a policy known as “metering,” rejecting arguments that federal law requires officials to process every migrant who arrives at the border seeking asylum. 
The three liberal justices dissented in both cases, representing significant victories for President Donald Trump’s broader effort to tighten immigration enforcement and exert closer control over migration.
&#8220;We&#8217;re talking a matter of weeks, not months, not years,” MS NOW reporter Lisa Rubin said of when affected migrants could be deported. 
In response to looming deportations, one MS NOW commentator encouraged other Western countries to step up. 
“I also ask the world to step up to be the leaders that the United States used to be. Major back-to-back earthquakes struck opposite sides of the globe within hours, toppling buildings in Venezuela and triggering alarms in Japan.
A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck off the coast of Venezuela on Wednesday afternoon, according to the <a href="https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/?extent=-69.53452,-66.44531&amp;extent=82.16645,337.85156">U.S. Geological Survey</a>, with tremors felt as far away as the capital, Caracas. Some initial reporting showed the quake with a magnitude of 7.1. Videos circulating on social media captured <a href="https://x.com/TheInsiderPaper/status/2069914064810385882?s=20">dramatic scenes</a> as residents rushed out of dilapidated buildings, carrying pets to safety. <a href="https://x.com/AZ_Intel_/status/2069909910494581101?s=20">Another video</a> appeared to show plumes of smoke above destroyed structures.

One minute later, a powerful 7.5 magnitude quake also rocked the region, according to the USGS. Severe damage was reported at one of the country’s airports, <a href="https://x.com/volcaholic1/status/2069917289235816526?s=20">social media showed.</a> 
The first quake appeared to have been a “foreshock” followed moments later by the larger main quake, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2026/06/24/world/venezuela-earthquake.html">according to the New York Times.</a>
It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured or killed. The earthquakes were <a href="https://apnews.com/article/venezuela-earthquake-caracas-7179acaee70a9c543f953852f15d4814">among the strongest</a> recorded in Venezuela in more than a century.

Major Earthquakes Shake Two Continents Just Hours Apart

A former California State Parks superintendent faces 31 criminal charges for secretly recording nearly two dozen naked lifeguards in a Southern California locker room and sending those explicit images to two other men. 
Starting in August 2024, Kevin Pearsall, 59, of Long Beach, allegedly set up a camera inside the Bolsa Chica State Beach Lifeguard Headquarters men’s employee locker room in Huntington Beach, California, according to <a href="https://ocdistrictattorney.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Kevin-Pearsall-6.24.26.pdf">Orange County prosecutors</a>. 
Almost a year later, a California State Parks officer found a USB flash drive in the men’s employee locker room, which prosecutors say included videos of state employees undressing. California State Parks then contacted the California Highway Patrol to investigate the device, which was found to contain hidden camera footage.
The employee locker room is not open to the public but accessible to full-time personnel, seasonal lifeguards, office staff, maintenance, and park aides, according to authorities. The hidden camera captured both audio and video from August 2024 through July 2025. 
“The CHP investigation identified 23 different men who had their genitals or buttocks filmed by the hidden camera placed in the employee locker room by Pearsall,” the Orange County District Attorney’s office said. “None of the men agreed to be recorded.”

Authorities allege Pearsall sent nude images of three victims to two other men and made sexually explicit comments about his employees’ genitals.
“Instead of protecting his employees, Pearsall used his position to spy on the men who worked for him while they were in the place where they should have been the safest and then share those intimate images of his victims,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said. 
“These victims had their privacy violated in such a disgusting way, and we will do everything we can to ensure they receive the justice they deserve,” he added. 
From 2023 through July 2025, Pearsall served as a California State Parks Superintendent, a sworn law enforcement position overseeing the management and operations of state parks in Orange County. He was first hired by California State Parks in 1994. 
On Tuesday, June 23, Pearsall turned himself in on a $500,000 arrest warrant and was released by a judge on his own recognizance, according to prosecutors. He has been charged with five felony counts of eavesdropping, 23 misdemeanor counts of secretly filming another, and three misdemeanor counts of unlawful dissemination of private recordings. His next court appearance is set for August 6.

A California House Democrat on Wednesday launched a new, bizarre conspiracy about President Donald Trump’s health, suggesting the commander-in-chief has a terminal illness and is suffering side effects from a &#8220;special drug.&#8221; 
Rep. Ted Lieu, who represents coastal Southern California, suggested a medical reason behind Trump’s decision to cancel a bipartisan housing bill signing ceremony.
“We have a bipartisan housing bill that both the Congress and Senate passed. It was supposed to be a big signing ceremony today in the Capitol, and then all of a sudden Donald Trump decides he&#8217;s not coming to sign the bill,” Lieu said. 
He then speculated on baseless ideas for the cancellation.
“Well, why is that? Did he wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Is he unable to stay awake today? What&#8217;s causing him to chicken out again? Is it Taco Wednesday, or is it side effects from a drug? We don&#8217;t know; this erratic behavior of the president is very concerning. He has trouble staying awake at multiple White House events and cabinet meetings. He has clearly some weakness in one of his arms. He&#8217;s got swelling in his hands, and the White House needs to come clean,” Lieu said.

The president said in a mid-morning Truth Social post that he had canceled his planned press conference and would not be signing the housing bill, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-gives-washington-a-taste-of-its-own-medicine-refuses-to-sign-housing-bill">The Daily Wire</a> reported. 
“Today’s Housing News Conference and Signing is hereby cancelled until such time as we pass the desperately needed SAVE AMERICA ACT, which I consider to be a National Emergency,” Trump said.
Earlier Wednesday morning, he foreshadowed his frustrations in a post about Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s involvement with the housing bill.
“The Elizabeth ‘Pocahontas’ Warren centric housing bill, which is of minor importance compared to lower interest rates, and even FISA, pales in comparison to passing THE SAVE AMERICA ACT,” Trump wrote. “That is what Americans, both Dumocrats, Republicans, and everyone else, care about.”
That did not stop the California Democrat from cooking up a conspiracy theory, suggesting the president may be suffering side effects from a “special drug.”
“What we know is there’s a report saying that one person in America got this special new drug. It was a 79-year-old person who is very high-profile, and this drug can only be given under the compassionate use provision, meaning you do that if someone basically has a terminal illness,” Lieu said. “So we need to know: Did Donald Trump get this special drug from Eli Lilly, and did he get it under that provision? And if he did, why is that the case?”
The White House fired back with a profanity-laced response, calling the congressman a “dumb*ss” and “b*tch.”

An Obama-appointed federal judge on Wednesday issued a sweeping order blocking President Trump’s voter ID executive order, which would have required proof of citizenship for voter registration.
U.S. District Court Judge Denise Casper, who is based in Boston, was nominated by former President Barack Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 2010 <a href="https://www.congress.gov/nomination/111th-congress/1710">via voice vote.</a> With Wednesday&#8217;s order, she effectively turned her preliminary injunction into a permanent block on the administration’s attempt to overhaul elections without Congress. 
Casper dismissed the administration’s claim that the lawsuit was premature, ruling that election oversight belongs to the states and Congress under the Constitution and that Trump’s requirements violated the separation of powers.
The Constitution “does not grant the President any specific powers over elections,” she wrote, according to the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/trump-elections-judge-358912bcb6c7223b3d2d36465156fde9">Associated Press</a>.

A ruling in favor of the Republican National Committee, however, could upend voting rules in dozens of states. 
“I hope the Chief Justice understands the path these rogue judges have charted for the judiciary,” White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller <a href="https://x.com/StephenM/status/2069828946246381808?s=20">said</a> in response to the ruling. 
In March 2025, President Trump <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/03/preserving-and-protecting-the-integrity-of-american-elections/">signed an executive order</a> requiring proof of citizenship to register for federal elections and mandating that ballots be received on election day. The order directed states to share voter data with federal agencies and cooperate in prosecuting election crimes, and threatened to withhold federal funding from noncompliant states.
“Despite pioneering self-government, the United States now fails to enforce basic and necessary election protections employed by modern, developed nations, as well as those still developing,” the directive read.  
The ruling deals another blow to Trump’s election security agenda, coming hours after he refused to sign bipartisan housing legislation over the Senate’s failure to pass the SAVE America Act.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Tuesday broke his silence over a Brooklyn coffee shop’s social media post declaring that it would no longer serve a Jewish congressman because of his views on Israel.
The Department of Justice is investigating the coffee chain that claims to promote “radical hospitality.” Poetica Coffee, which operates seven locations across the Big Apple, mocked Rep. Dan Goldman in a Facebook post over the weekend, declaring that it does not serve “genocide enablers.”
“Hey, Congressman Dan Goldman, we see that you stopped by our shop today for a coffee. Do you see how it doesn’t taste like genocide juice? Or are you still having a hard time telling the difference?” the coffee shop said, posting a picture of Goldman at a Brooklyn location. 
“See, here at Poetica, we don’t serve racists, fascists, homophobes, genocide enablers, or anyone in between.”
Mamdani initially declined to comment but was later pressed by a reporter, who asked the Democratic Socialist whether the coffee shop’s response had crossed a line.
“I have many political disagreements with Congressman Goldman when it comes to his votes and his views on Israel,” Mamdani said. “I think what we saw online goes beyond that.”

“Pretty simple process, if you support genocide, we reserve the right to not serve you,” Mukhamadkulov replied to a LinkedIn post praising his establishment. 
In other comments and posts, he has accused Israel of committing genocide, compared the Jewish state to Nazi Germany, and defended the Hamas-led Oct. 7 attack that killed and abducted civilians.
“Israel is the Nazi Germany of current time,” he wrote in response to a video posted by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

A 34-year-old black man faces an attempted murder charge after allegedly attacking and strangling a woman inside a California Target store — just hours after being released from custody for prior convictions. 
On June 17, Rejean Morgan Tabor is accused of entering a Target in Simi Valley, California, approaching a woman from behind, and strangling her while covering her nose and mouth, according to the <a href="https://da.venturacounty.gov/mediacenter/newsreleases/#docaccess-50967b0c4d8ac38edccc6303decb24b1">Ventura County District Attorney&#8217;s Office</a>.

Tabor, who had been released from custody less than 24 hours earlier, turned his vengeance on the Good Samaritans. 
“As other shoppers rushed to help, Tabor allegedly attacked multiple Good Samaritans who intervened. One woman was pushed to the ground while attempting to pull Tabor away from the victim. Another shopper was allegedly bitten, struck, and scratched while helping free the victim from the attacker,” prosecutors said. 
Target shoppers recounted a harrowing scene. 
“Yeah, he was choking the sh*t out of some lady over there in the clothes, and I dove down to try and pry him off, and then I got scared. He looked crazy,” one female shopper said. “I’m just rattled because the lady looked like she was near death.” 
Before police confronted and arrested the suspect, Tabor allegedly threw a glass bottle at a Target employee and attacked a 16-year-old customer from behind.
“The alleged attack inside Target occurred less than 24 hours after Tabor was released from custody on mandatory supervision following his completed sentencing in two separate Ventura County criminal cases,” authorities said in a news release. 
The woman attacked was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition, <a href="https://ktla.com/news/california/ventura-county-target-attack-new-details/">local outlet KTLA reported.</a>
In addition to attempted murder, Tabor faces charges involving four additional victims, including two misdemeanor counts of battery, one misdemeanor count of assault, and one misdemeanor count
At his first court appearance, no plea was entered, and proceedings were suspended after his attorney raised concerns about his competency, according to local prosecutors. He remains jailed on $750,000 bail and is scheduled for a competency hearing on July 16.

Over the weekend, Poetica Coffee, which operates seven locations across the Big Apple, mocked Rep. Goldman in a Facebook post, declaring that it does not serve “genocide enablers.”
“Hey, Congressman Dan Goldman, we see that you stopped by our shop today for a coffee. Do you see how it doesn’t taste like genocide juice? Or are you still having a hard time telling the difference?” the coffee shop said, posting a picture of Goldman at a Brooklyn location. 

“See, here at Poetica, we don’t serve racists, fascists, homophobes, genocide enablers, or anyone in between.”

<a href="https://www.poeticacoffee.com/">On the company’s website</a>, Poetica says the chain is “rooted in the Uzbek tradition where the guest is sacred, the books are unbanned, and the door is open to everyone.” 
But the company struck a markedly different tone when addressing Goldman.
“Too bad we didn’t recognize you right away, or we would have turned you away. We issued you a refund—we don’t need your money (it’s probably coming from AIPAC anyways). Enjoy your loss on Tuesday. Don’t ever come to Poetica,” Poetica said on social media. 
As of Tuesday afternoon, the post was still up on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=pfbid02TsEXnK92pz9jH7emvw44pFE1xDZr2z4paVDUUfnnnfhUiSuHqmP3dYMJDPB62pARl&amp;id=100088387140183">Facebook</a>, and it provoked a fiery response from the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division. 
“Federal law prohibits public accommodations such as coffee shops from discriminating against patrons based on their race, religion, or national origin. These actions are not only reprehensible, they’re potentially illegal,” Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon said. “The Civil Rights Division has opened an investigation, and will bring an enforcement action if warranted.”
Goldman – who is locked in a heated reelection primary – responded to the coffee shop&#8217;s social media post. 
“It was quite surprising, in part because I had such a nice interaction with the barista in the coffee shop. She was wearing a hijab, I didn&#8217;t know her, but she couldn&#8217;t have been nicer, and allowed my daughter to use the bathroom, and I honestly was so grateful for her kindness that I felt like I should buy a coffee, and so I did, and I gave her a large tip,” <a href="https://x.com/danielsgoldman/status/2069384404430926010?s=20">Goldman said to CNN.</a>

Democratic voters in New York City’s 10th Congressional District — which stretches from Manhattan’s East Village into several affluent Brooklyn neighborhoods — are heading to the polls today to decide whether to renominate Rep. Dan Goldman. The pro-Israel Democrat faces a tough challenge from his party’s far-left flank, which has pledged to take a tougher stance against AIPAC and U.S. military aid to Israel.
His leading challenger, Brad Lander, the former city comptroller endorsed by Mayor Zohran Mamdani, has made his criticisms of Israel a central part of his campaign message.
“It&#8217;s a reflection, I think, of a sad state of affairs that, without knowing me, we could have had such a nice interaction,” Goldman added. “Two people, obviously from different backgrounds, different faiths, but that&#8217;s what America is, and that&#8217;s what New York City is, that is what I believe in.”
